Siamo lieti di presentare If we were to fall silent, atto conclusivo della terza edizione di New Gen 2025, un progetto dedicato alla formazione di giovani artistə under 30, realizzato in collaborazione tra Almanac, Cripta747 e Mucho Mas!. Attraverso un’open call, sono statə selezionatə otto artistə di cui cinque provenienti dalla regione Piemonte e tre dal resto d’Italia: Giulia Crivellaro, Abdel Karim Ougri, Mari Ferrario, Giulia Gaffo, Miriam Governatori Leonardi, Beatrice Mika Sakaki, Teresa Prati, Maria Luisa Zoccoli.
Per l’edizione 2025 il ruolo di tutor è stato affidato a Massimo Grimaldi che, insieme ai team curatoriali dei tre spazi indipendenti, ha supportato lə artistə durante le fasi di laboratorio e produzione attraverso sessioni di visiting, tutoraggio e confronti collettivi. Per la mostra If we were to fall silent lə artistə presentano lavori inediti nati a partire dai temi, dalle suggestioni e dalle criticità emerse durante le settimane di laboratorio.
In risposta a un contesto che ancora oggi offre poche occasioni di scambio orizzontale tra le nuove generazioni di creativə e lə professionistə del settore, il progetto ha attivato uno spazio di condivisione di pratiche, linguaggi e prospettive, in cui ogni partecipante ha potuto raccontarsi, confrontarsi e riflettere criticamente sul proprio posizionamento all’interno del panorama artistico contemporaneo.
New Gen è un progetto realizzato da Almanac, Cripta747 e Mucho Mas! con il sostegno di Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo, Fondazione CRT e Regione Piemonte.
We are pleased to present If we were to fall silent, the concluding act of the third edition of New Gen 2025, a project dedicated to the professional development of emerging artists under 30, realized in collaboration between Almanac Inn, Cripta747 and Mucho Mas!. Through an open call, eight artists were selected, five from the Piedmont region and three from other parts of Italy: Giulia Crivellaro, Abdel Karim Ougri, Mari Ferrario, Giulia Gaffo, Miriam Governatori Leonardi, Beatrice Mika Sakaki, Teresa Prati and Maria Luisa Zoccoli.
For the 2025 edition, the role of tutor was entrusted to Massimo Grimaldi who, together with the curatorial teams of the three independent spaces, supported the artists during the workshop and production phases through studio visits, mentorship, and group discussions. For the exhibition If we were to fall silent, the artists present new works developed from the themes, suggestions, and critical reflections that emerged during the weeks of the laboratory.
Responding to a context that still offers few opportunities for horizontal exchange between the new generations of creatives and art professionals, the project created a space for sharing practices, languages, and perspectives, a space where each participant could express themselves, engage in dialogue, and critically reflect on their positioning within the contemporary art landscape.
